Reinhold Klotz

Reinhold Klotz ( born March 13, 1807 in Stollberg at Chemnitz; † August 10, 1870 in Kleinzschocher in Leipzig ) was a German philologist.

With 19 years of Klotz began in 1826 to study at the University of Leipzig and was this study in 1831 successfully complete with a Habilitation in classical philology. He remained at the university and was in the following year for ao Professor appointed. It was the end of 1849 's biggest opposition of his colleagues throughout the shaft as the successor Gottfried Hermann to "or Professor "called.

His successor in turn was Oscar Ferdinand Peschel, also the subject of Geography was established as an independent academic discipline at the University with the same time. Previously these as part of discipline both classical philology by Klotz and the historical auxiliary sciences was represented by Heinrich Wuttke.
