René Auberjonois
René Murat Auberjonois ( born June 1, 1940 in New York City ) is an American actor and voice actor, best known for his role of Odo in the television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Life
His grandfather was the Swiss painter René Auberjonois. His father Fernand was a journalist, married to the French princess Louise Laure Murat, descendant of the Napoleonic marshal and King of Naples, Joachim Murat, and a sister of Napoleon Caroline Bonaparte. Shortly after the Second World War, the family moved to Paris, where to become Auberjonois at the age of six years decided actor when he was cast in the school in a musical.
The family moved from Paris in a New York artist neighborhood where René Auberjonois met musician, composer and actor. There he also met his future mentor, John Houseman, from whom he received his first job in the theater at age 16. His family then moved to London, where Auberjonois made his high school diploma and further learned the theater craft.
After returning to the United States, he received his Bachelor of Arts in Drama from Carnegie - Mellon University in Pennsylvania. For his performance in the Broadway musical about Coco Chanel, Coco with Katharine Hepburn, he won a Tony Award. Auberjonois had in 1970 his first feature film role in M * A * S * H, and even then played in two other films of director Robert Altman. During the filming of the series Benson, in the six years he represented Clayton Endicott III, he got to know Ethan Phillips, who later Neelix in Star Trek: Voyager played.
Auberjonois is also famous for his speaking voice, he said, as the chief Louis in Disney's The Little Mermaid and has also recorded many audio books. In addition, he has participated in famous film productions in supporting roles, such as Dr. Burton in Batman Forever and as Reverend Oliver in The Patriot. In 2002 he played the role of Professor Abronsius in Dance of the Vampires, the Broadway production of the musical Dance of the Vampires.
In 1991, Auberjonois on Star Trek the role of Colonel West in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. After references his scenes in the movie and the television version should be accounted for, but this turned out to be misinformation. In 1993 he played the shapeshifter Odo in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. In the first three seasons of legal drama Boston Legal producer David E. Kelley, he played the General Counsel Paul Lewiston law firm of Crane, Poole & Schmidt. With the beginning of the fourth season, his contract was not renewed, then Auberjonois completed but still some guest appearances.
Since 2010 he has repeatedly seen in the Syfy series Warehouse 13. He is also since 2010 as a voice actor for the TV series Pound Puppies - The paws Club operates.
Auberjonois is married to actress Judith Mahalyi and has two children. His hobbies include drawing, photography and cooking.
