René Audet

René Audet ( born January 18, 1920 in Montreal, † June 12, 2011 ) was a Canadian clergyman and Roman Catholic Bishop of Joliette.

Life

René Audet was consecrated by Archbishop Joseph Charbonneau of Montreal on 30 May 1948 to the priest.

Audet was, among other parochial vicar in Rouyn -Noranda and health counselor. In 1958 he became Vicar General in Ottawa.

Pope John XXIII. appointed him on 21 May 1963, Auxiliary Bishop of Ottawa and Titular Bishop of Chonochora. The Archbishop of Ottawa, Marie -Joseph Lemieux OP, consecrated him on 31 July of the same year the bishop; Co-consecrators were William Joseph Smith, Bishop of Pembroke, and Maxime Tessier, Bishop of Timmins. He was on January 3, 1968 by Paul VI. appointed Bishop of Joliette.

He participated in the second, third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council.

On October 31, 1990 Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related.
