Reno Renegades

The Reno Renegades were an American ice hockey team from Reno, Nevada. The team played from 1995 to 1998 in the West Coast Hockey League.

History

The team was founded in 1995 under the name Reno Renegades as a franchise of the West Coast Hockey League. In their first season the Renegades reached third in WCHL immediately the playoffs for the Taylor Cup, where they lost in the first round of the Fresno Falcons with a sweep in the best- of-five series. In the following season they missed the playoffs for a fifth place in the regular season. Subsequently, the franchise was renamed the Reno Rage. Under this name the team from Nevada entered into the 1997/98 season in the WCHL, in spite of her fourth and thus last place in the WCHL North Division due to the higher number of points compared with the last of the South Division, the Tucson Gila Monsters, moved into the playoffs. In this they parted like two years earlier in the first round after they were defeated again in the best- of-five series with a sweep, this time against eventual finalists Tacoma Sabercats.
