Rhaetian Railway Ge 2/2

The Ge 2/2 is a small electric locomotive of the former Bernina Railway, now the Rhaetian Railway (RhB). Only two locomotives were built of this type, originally 61 and 62, since 1961, with the numbers 161 and 162

Both were Gleichstromloks 1911 by the Bernina Railway (BB) procured for biasing services. The then brown painted machines were numbered Ge 2/2 61 and 62 and were still equipped with Lyra pantographs. After the takeover of the BB through the RhB in 1942 they were modernized several times; Today they carry a pantograph and are mostly active as shunting locomotives in Poschiavo.

The Appenzell Railway (AB ), there is the Te 49, a similar-looking small locomotive, whose origins go back to 1912. From 1955 to 1975 she was referred to as Ge 2/2 49. Other vehicles similar exist in the TPF (Te 2/2 11-12, and 1954 as Ge 2/2 refers ) and the MVR (Te 81-82 ).
