Riad Al Solh

Riad Solh it - or Riad Solh (Arabic رياض الصلح; * 1894, † July 17, 1951 ) was from 1943 to 1945, the first Prime Minister of Lebanon after independence.

Like all his successors in office he was a Sunni Muslim. He was again Prime Minister of 14 December 1946 to 14 February 1951. Several months after his resignation came as- Solh in an assassination attempt in Marka International Airport in Amman, Jordan, died. Officially, the stop of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party was committed in revenge for the execution of Antoun Saadé.

Solh was one of the most important figures in the struggle for the independence of Lebanon, who was able to unite the various religious groups.
