Charles Debbas

Charles Debbas (* 1885, † 1935) (Arabic شارل دباس ) was a Lebanese politician Greek Orthodox faith.

He was elected on 1 September 1926 as a compromise candidate for the first President of the incurred under the French League of Nations mandate Lebanese Republic for the period until 1932. He remained on a transitional basis until January 2, 1934 in his office, as the French administration wanted to prevent the election of a Sunni president.

On May 9, 1932 to January 29, 1934 he was also Prime Minister of the country, from 30 January then President of the Parliament - a position he held until October 31 of the same year.
