Ricardo Porro

Ricardo Porro (* November 1925 in Camagüey, Cuba ) is a Cuban- French architect, painter and sculptor.

Life

After completing his studies built Ricardo Porro more of the work of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe inspired villas in Havana, then toured Europe and returned in 1960 returned to Cuba. There he built two emblematic for its new building style: the art school and the school of modern dance in Havana.

In 1966 he went into the permanent exile in France, where he taught art and architectural history in Paris, Lille and Strasbourg. During this time, he created numerous designs which, although not realized, their sketches and models, however, exhibited widely and were disseminated through publications and photos.

Together with the young French architect Renaud de la Noue, with whom he joined full-time in 1986, he realized - mainly in the Île- de -France - numerous buildings, especially for the school board, including the University of residence and the real school of the planned city ( ville nouvelle ) Cergy.

Ricardo Porros sculpture-like structures that can be attributed to the organic architecture, are often inspired by nature, the human body, animals and trees. They are characterized by unusual expressiveness and imagination. In general, they consist of several smaller units that are grouped around one or more places and a smaller urban project with the same.

Porro lives in Paris.
