Stains

Stains is a commune in the Seine -Saint- Denis, Ile- de -France region. The town forms a separate canton.

Geography

The 5.39 km ² large municipality has built almost entirely, the population density is, accordingly, with 6432 inhabitants per square kilometer high. The neighboring municipalities are Pierrefitte- sur -Seine, Saint -Denis, La Courneuve and Dugny in the department of Seine- Saint- Denis and Garges -lès -Gonesse and Sarcelles in the department of Val -d'Oise.

Population

With 34.830 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Stains is one of the medium-sized towns in the Seine -Saint- Denis. 1962, the municipality had 27 503 inhabitants yet. After strong growth in the 1960s and 70s, the population reached in 1982 with 36 079 residents peaked. Since then the number has declined slightly. Stains located in a densely populated area in the agglomeration of Paris ( banlieue ). A large part of the traditional working community today consists of residential developments in plate design and a large part of the inhabitants are immigrants from the Maghreb or sub-Saharan Africa.

Traffic

Traffic Stains default is very well developed. Above all, the public transport is well developed: Stains is up to the bus lines 150, 153, 250, 252, 253 and 254 and a night bus the Noctilien. In addition, S-Bahn stations of the RER B and RER D in the immediate vicinity ( station Pierrefitte - Stains ). There is a project that provides the metro line to extend by 13 to Stains.
