Richard Witschge ( born September 20, 1969 in Amsterdam ) is a former Dutch football player.

Career

Association

On October 26, 1986 was Witschge his debut for Ajax in the Eredivisie. After his first professional year, the then 18 - year-old won the KNVB Cup and thus its first national title. The defensive midfielder prevailed in the following years with the Amsterdammers and became a regular player. In 1990, the team was Dutch Masters.

For the 1991/92 season brought him to FC Barcelona Johan Cruyff, in which it was difficult Witschge to prevail. In 1992, Barça 1992 European Champion Clubs' Cup, but came Witschge in the final against Sampdoria not used. In addition, the profit of the Spanish Championship followed in 1993.

In the summer of 1993 Witschge moved to France to Bordeaux. He came back more frequently used. In March 1995, the club loaned him out for three months at Blackburn Rovers, where he graduated, however, just a game. In 1996 Bordeaux from the final of the UEFA Cup, but lost with 0:2 and 1:3 against FC Bayern Munich. Witschge completed both games.

In 1996, he returned to Ajax and remained there for the next seven years. There he won the 1998 national league and cup double. 2001/ 02 he was awarded for one year at Deportivo Alaves.

In the summer of 2003 Witschge joined the Dutch amateur club ADO '20. After only half a year he went to Japan to Oita Trinita. But even there it took him only for six months. To a comeback in Europe at the Glasgow Rangers did not came after he had fallen through the medical examination.

National

Witschge played in the European Football Championship in England in 1996 four games for the Dutch national team. He made a total of 31 games for the KNVB, scoring one goal.
