Rick White (politician)

Richard Alan "Rick" White ( born November 6, 1953 in Bloomington, Indiana) is an American politician. Between 1995 and 1999 he represented the State of Washington in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Rick White studied until 1975 at the Dartmouth College. He then continued his education at the Sorbonne, University of Paris, France, continued. After his return to the United States, he studied at Georgetown University in Washington DC Jura. After that, he was employed by the Federal Judge Charles Clark. He also worked as a private lawyer. White was the founder of the literary program " Books for Kids ".

Politically, White was a member of the Republican Party. Between 1986 and 1988 he sat in the council of Queen Anne in Washington State. In the congressional elections in 1994 was the first election district of his state in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Maria Cantwell on January 3, 1995. After a re-election in 1996, he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1999, two legislative sessions. There he was a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee. White, though, was the Internet Protection Act. He was considered a conservative and voted for the failed impeachment of then President Bill Clinton.

In the elections of 1998 Rick White lost to Democrat Jay Inslee. After his retirement from the House of Representatives White was until 2005 Chairman of the Board in Palo Alto ( Calif.) -based company TechNet.
