Riley Cote

Riley Cote ( born March 16, 1982 in Winnipeg, Manitoba ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who was from 2006 to 2010 at the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League under contract and has since been working as a coach.

Career

Riley Cote began his career in 1998 at the Prince Albert Raiders. With the team, he played a total of four years in the Western Hockey League. Although he was never selected in the NHL Entry Draft, the Toronto Maple Leafs gave the Canadians the opportunity at the 2002 training camp NHL team participate. There, it was possible for the attacker to recommend and received a one-year contract with the former farm team the Maple Leafs from the Central Hockey League, the Memphis RiverKings. In the season 2002/ 03 Cote could also accrue six times higher for playing St. John 's Maple Leafs of the American Hockey League. His contract with the Leafs was still not extended, so that Cote signed a contract with the Syracuse Crunch, the farm team of the Columbus Blue Jackets, from the AHL. He then took part in the training camp of the Blue Jackets. There, however, he could not prevail, so that he was playing for Syracuse. Due to an eye injury Cote eventually spent much of the season with the ECHL farm team of Syracuse, the Dayton Bombers.

For the 2004/ 05 season Cote finally got a sample contract with the Philadelphia Phantoms, the farm team of the Philadelphia Flyers, and during the season, a two-way contract. With his new team, he won at the first attempt the Calder Cup. Shortly after the end of the season he received a full-time contract with the Phantoms. Having already participated in two training camps of the Flyers in 2005 and 2006, Cote received for the 2006/07 season a two-way contract with the NHL club. Towards the end of the season he made his debut in the National Hockey League. On June 2, 2008 Cote received a new three- year contract from the Flyers.

In early August, 2010, Cote at the age of 28 years his retirement from professional hockey sport known. He will continue to be, however, involved in the organization of the Philadelphia Flyers. Currently, Riley Cote assistant coach of the Adirondack Phantoms of the AHL.
