Riley 1.5 ( 1965)

Riley 1.5 and Wolseley 1500 were car models by Riley and Wolseley.

Description

The two models had the bottom plate, suspension and steering of the Morris Minor, but the larger 1489 cc - Engine B-series and an independent body. The two vehicles were launched in 1957 and differed in performance by almost 20 bhp (15 kW ), the Riley developed by his two SU carburettors 68 bhp (50 kW).

In May 1960, the Riley 1.5 Series II appeared the clearest differentiator for the first series were concealed hinges for bonnet and boot lid.

The Wolseley 1500 Series II was released in October 1961 and had a revised grille and taillights others.

In 1965, the production of both models has been discontinued. From Riley 39 568 units were built, from Wolseley 103 394.

In his time, the Riley was successfully used as a race and rally car and can still be seen in historic competitions.

In Australia, there were also variants of this model with simpler equipment, the Austin Lancer and Morris Major. These models were not offered in Europe.
