Río Chico Department, Santa Cruz

The department Río Chico (Santa Cruz ) is located in the west of Santa Cruz province in southern Argentina and is one of the seven administrative units in the province.

It is bordered to the north by the Department of Lago Buenos Aires, on the east by the department of Magallanes, on the south by the departments Lago Argentino and CORPEN Aike and to the west by Chile.

The capital of the department of Río Chico (Santa Cruz ) is Gobernador Gregores.

Population

According to estimates by the INDEC, the population grew from 2,926 inhabitants (2001) to 3,630 inhabitants in 2005.

National park

On the territory of the department is the Perito Moreno National Park.
