Rites of Passage ( in Album Cover part with ROP abbreviated ) is the first live album by the British Pop-/Rockmusikers Roger Hodgson, the former founding member of the British rock band Supertramp. Ten years after the studio album " Hai Hai " was released in 1997 and sold very well in Germany and Switzerland - otherwise sluggish.

Description

"Rites of Passage " results from the mini-tour in the summer of 1996, while Hodgson was with seven guest musicians, including Supertramp 's John Helliwell and Rogers son Andrew Hodgson, a few concerts in California. It was recorded the live album on 2 August 1996 at the last concert of the tour at the Miner's Foundry, one in Nevada City in California (USA) located event complex with several halls - for example for weddings, conferences and concerts.

In contrast to the previous studio album " Hai Hai " appears on the live album "Rites of Passage " which is typical of Supertramp saxophone, played by Helliwell, something more prominent, synthesizers were banished and the music turns back a little more to the progressive pop- rock style.

In "Rites of Passage " are next to the live re-recorded the song " Take the Long Way Home ", " The Logical Song " and " Give a Little Bit", three works from the famous Supertramp - time, and "In Jeopardy " from the solo album "In the Eye of the Storm " (1984), five new ( previously unreleased ) songs of Roger Hodgson: "Every trick in the Book", "Showdown ", "Do not You Want to Get High? " " Red Lake " and "Time Waits for No One". " Showdown" three years later part of the album "Open the Door" and "Do not You Want to Get High? " And "Time Waits for No One" are counted from critics often among the best works of the live album. In addition to joins ( which is also new ) " Melancholic ", which was written by Andrew Hodgson, who plays the song on the piano, and even singing. Furthermore, written by Mikail Graham song " No Colours " and " Smelly Feat " part of the live album, which she plays on a guitar and even sings.
