Rivas Department
Rivas is a department in Nicaragua, with the homonymous capital city of Rivas. The department has approximately 170,000 inhabitants ( 2006 calculation ) and an area of 2155 km ².
The Department of Rivas is in turn divided into ten municipios:
Geography
The district lies to the south of Nicaragua and is in the south of the border with Costa Rica, bounded on the west by the Pacific Ocean and on the east by Lake Nicaragua.
Attractions
The county is primarily known for its beaches as in the bay of San Juan del Sur on the Pacific Ocean and San Jorge Lake Nicaragua and the volcanoes of Ometepe, the largest island in Lake Nicaragua.
