River Barrow

The River Barrow ( Irish: Abhainn na Bearú or to Bhearú ) is - according to the Shannon - with 192 km the second longest river in Ireland. It rises in the Slieve Bloom Mountains in County Laois and runs through several counties in the Republic of Ireland.

The Barrow belongs to the River Suir (An tSiúr ) and the River Nore (An Fheoir ) to the Three Sisters, all of which drain south of Waterford at Dunmore East in the Celtic Sea.

On his way to the Atlantic Barrow flows including through Carlow and New Ross. In Athy he crosses the Grand Canal.
