Robert Donat

Friedrich Robert Donat ( born March 18, 1905 in Withington, Manchester, UK, † June 9, 1958 in London, England ) was a British actor. He won the 1940 Oscar for best actor.

Life

Friedrich Robert Donat, son of Ernst Emil Donat made ​​his debut in 1930 in London at the theater. In 1932 he took his first movie role, and was known as a comedian and romantic hero quickly becoming one of the most popular British stars. His most famous part he played in Alfred Hitchcock's 1935 classic The 39 Steps, in which he is chased innocent persecuted across the country.
