Robert Martin (Oklahoma)

Robert Martin (* 1833 in Frankfort Springs, Pennsylvania, † 1897 in Guthrie, Oklahoma) was an American lawyer and Republican politician. In this capacity, he served as mayor and governor.

After a long career as a lawyer in Ohio in 1889, he moved to El Reno. As secretary of the governor, he was in 1891 appointed himself transitional governor of Oklahoma Territory, George Washington Steele as its predecessor went to Indiana. He held this office from 18 October 1891 to February 2, 1892, was then appointed as mayor of Guthrie.
