Röderaue

Röderaue is a municipality in the north of the district of Meißen in Saxony. It is the seat of the administrative community Röderaue - Wülknitz.

Geography

Geographical Location

The municipality is located in the Großenhainer care in the Röderaue and is dominated by large forest and pond landscapes. Thus, about one-third of the municipal area of forest and about one-tenth surface waters. Nearby towns include Elsterwerda (14 km), Great Hain ( 15 km), Groeditz ( 2 km) and Riesa (16 km). The federal highways 169 and 101 run through the municipality. The railway lines Riesa- Cottbus, Dresden- Berlin and Chemnitz- Riesa run through the municipality. Through the community lead the Elsterwerda - Grödel raft channel, Geißlitz and the Great Röder.

The municipality consists of the villages Röderaue Frauenhain, Koselitz, pulses and Raden.

History

The municipality was created on 1 January 1994 by the merger of the previously independent municipalities Frauenhain, Koselitz, pulses and Raden.

  • Burial and memorial for 27 KZ - prisoners of the outboard bearing Groeditz of Flossenbiirg and for 74 women and 69 children of Ostarbeiterinnenlagers Frauenhain who abducted and victims of forced labor during the Second World War to Germany were
  • Memorial and graves in the district of pulses in the vicinity of the swimming pool Groeditz for at least 150 forced laborers (inside), primarily from the Soviet Union, which had to do forced labor at central warehouse steel plant Groeditz of Flossenbiirg
