Rodopi Municipality

Rhodopes (Bulgarian: Родопи ) is a municipality in the Oblast Plovdiv in central Bulgaria. Administrative center of the municipality is Plovdiv, but that does not belongs to the municipality Rodopi.

Geography

Location

The municipality is located in the southwestern region of the Rhodope Oblast Plovdiv, for the most part southwest of the city of Plovdiv. It is located in the Thracian plain on the Mariza at the foot of the Rhodope.

Community structure

The municipality of Rodopi ( Bulg Община Родопи ) with 33 111 inhabitants ( 2006) on an area of 668 km ² consists of only - 21 - villages.
