Roger Deakins

Roger Deakins CBE ( born May 24, 1949 in Torquay, England ) is a British cinematographer.

Life

Roger Deakins studied graphic design. He discovered his love for photography and studied at the National Film and Television School in London. He then spent years trying to shoot documentaries and worked around the world for various television productions.

Since 1988 he has worked as a cinematographer, especially in the U.S., he often works with the Coen brothers together.

He has been nominated eleven times for an Oscar but never won an award yet. Last Deakins was nominated for an Oscar in 2014 with Prisoners.

In June 2013 he was honored by Queen Elizabeth II with the CBE.
