Roger Ilegems
Roger Ilegems ( born December 13, 1962 in Niel ) is a former Belgian cyclist.
At the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, he won the gold medal in the points race in the team pursuit over 4000 meters he finished eighth. His coach at the time was Patrick Sercu, who was twenty years earlier also become Olympic champion.
From 1984 to 1991 Ilegems was professional. He could celebrate some victories in one-day and stage races lesser importance. However, the confirmation of the Olympic victory he never succeeded, except for the bronze medal in the points race at the 1987 World Championships in Vienna. In 1991 he retired from professional sports.
