Roman Catholic Diocese of Balasore

The Diocese of Balasore (Latin: Dioecesis Balasorensis ) is a located in India Roman Catholic diocese based in Balasore.

History

Pope Paul VI. founded the Apostolic Prefecture of Balasore with the Apostolic Constitution Rerum condicio catholicarum on June 8, 1968 from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Calcutta.

With the Apostolic Constitution Opportunum sane it was collected on 18 December 1989 to the diocese, the Archdiocese of Cuttack -Bhubaneswar was the subordinate as suffragan.

Territory

The diocese comprises the districts of Balasore Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar in the state of Odisha.
