History

The Diocese of Chikmagalur was posted on November 16, 1963 by Pope Paul VI. built with the Apostolic Constitution indicae regionis condicio of cessions of territory of the Diocese of Mysore and the Archdiocese of Bangalore is a suffragan. On November 14, 1988, the Diocese of Chikmagalur was part of its territory from the foundation of the Diocese of Shimoga.
