Roman Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Tambura - Yambio (Latin: Dioecesis Tomburaensis - Yambioensis ) comprises the districts of Tambura, Yambio and Maridi of the South Sudanese state of Western Equatoria.

History

On 3 March 1949, the Apostolic Prefecture Mupio was founded. They were parts of its territory on July 3, 1955 from together with the Apostolic vicariates Bahr al - Jabal and Bahr al - Ghazal, to the newly established Apostolic Vicariate of Rumbek. On December 12, 1974, the Apostolic Vicariate Mupio was raised under the name of the diocese of Tambura. The name changed on 21 February 1987 in Tambura - Yambio.
