Roman Catholicism in Singapore

The Roman Catholic Church in Singapore is a small diaspora community with an old tradition.

Its origins can be found in the time of colonization of the early 16th century and therefore fall largely with the history of the Roman Catholic Church in Malaysia together.

It was only on 18 December 1972, the city-state was split off from the Archdiocese of Malacca Malay and elevated to an independent name immediately Archdiocese of Singapore, which is only 639 km ².

The steadily increasing number of Catholics was in 2002, already 155 537 believers who make up 3.8% of the country's population, living in 30 parishes. These are led by 69 diocesan priests, 61 religious priests and 220 which nuns are at your side.
