Ron Flockhart (racing driver)

Ronald "Ron" Flockhart ( born June 16, 1923 in Edinburgh, † April 12, 1962 in Melbourne, Australia) was a British racing driver and pilot.

Ron Flockhart began his motorsport career in motorcycle racing before he initially denied smaller car racing in the UK on ERAs. 1954 to 1960, he joined a number of formula 1 race, mostly on BRM, occasionally also on other brands such as Connaught Alta or Cooper. Height of his Formula 1 career was the third place at the GP of Italy 1956. Unequal successful he was in sports car racing, 1956 and 1957, he could decide to Jaguar, the 24 - hour race at Le Mans itself.

In 1961 he moved to the aviation, where he tried to break the record for the solo flight from Australia to the UK. When training for a second record flight he crashed his plane off at Melbourne and was killed.
