Rôni

Roni ( born April 28, 1977 in Aurora do Tocantins, actually Roniéliton Pereira dos Santos ) is a former Brazilian footballer.

Career

In his youth, Roni played for Vila Nova FC before he was discovered and committed in 1996 by the traditional club Sao Paulo. The club was at that time but financially very poor there and had to be even temporarily closed for safety reasons. After just a few months Roni moved on to Fluminense Rio de Janeiro, where he played four seasons. In 2001 he went abroad for the first time for Al -Hilal in Saudi Arabia. During the season he returned to Fluminense to play there until the end of the 2002 season. Then the Brazilians moved to Russia Rubin Kazan. The club had risen in the preseason from the second to the first Russian league. In his first Premjer League season, the club managed a surprising third place in the table and thus qualified for the UEFA Cup. In the second half of the season the following season Roni was loaned out to league rivals Krylia Sovetov Samara. During the 2005 season, the Brazilian returned to his homeland and signed for Goiás EC. At the end, the club reached the third place in the table, the best to date placement in the club's history.

But the wanderer Roni held it again a few months at his club and he moved in the coming months to further Atlético Mineiro, Flamengo and Cruzeiro. In the 2008 season of Brazilian center forward playing in the Japanese J. League. There, first with the club Yokohama F. Marinos and then from August at Gamba Osaka. With the latter club he won next to the Emperor's Cup and the AFC Champions League and so his first major international title. After these successes Roni went back to Brazil, where he played for FC Santos. Again, the striker was only half a year for his club and moved in July 2009 to Fluminense Rio de Janeiro, for which he was formerly twice already active. In February 2010, the striker returned to the place of origin of his career and moved to Vila Nova FC. In the junior division, he was almost 14 years earlier discovered. With the men's team of his youth club he played in the second Brazilian league, the Série B.

National

In 1999, Roni denied under then coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo total of 5 games for the Brazilian national football team, scoring 2 goals. He played at the FIFA Confederations Cup in 1999 with the likes of Dida, Emerson, Zé Roberto, Ronaldinho or Serginho in a team. At the final match against Mexico, he was substituted at half -time and was able to achieve the meantime 2:2 balancing nearly two minutes after the restart. In the end, Mexico won 4-3.
