Rosario de Lerma

Rosario de Lerma is the capital of the departments Rosario de Lerma in the province of Salta in northwestern Argentina. It is located 35 kilometers southeast of the provincial capital of Salta and 13 kilometers east of Cerrillos and 11 kilometers south of Campo Quijano.

Geography

The territory of the municipality of Rosario de Lerma is crossed from north to south by the Río Rosario. Within the municipal territory, there are three zones:

  • The mountainous, largely inaccessible, western estuary of the river, which is inhabited only slight,
  • The fertile plain east of the river, which is used mainly for the cultivation of tobacco and its rural population comprises 3000 people and

History

1787 gave the governor Mestre the country on the Río de la Quebrada del Perú Josefa Valdés, who was married to Juan de Viana Torino. 1802, the small settlement as Rosario de los Cerrillos was mentioned.. Economy
