Rosy Armen

Rosy arms ( born May 1, 1923 in Paris) is a French singer of Armenian origin. She sings most of her songs in French and Armenian. In addition, she sings in Italian, German, Spanish and English.

Biography

Rosy arms was the daughter of Khurshut Hovannisian from Nakhchivan and Nvart Alozian from a suburb of Ankara. Her parents had immigrated in the 1920s to France and got to know there. Although her parents rejected a career as a singer, sat Rosy Hovannisian, later Bedrossian, they continued with passion and adopted the stage name Rosy arms on.

Due to their success, she was known not only in France but also in Europe, the Soviet Union, the United States and the Middle East, where there are many Armenian communities. She also took part in the Persepolis celebrations in Iran.

In 1970 she took part in the selection rounds for the Euro Vision Song Contest as the representative of Spain. She sang the song " Gwendolyne ". Competing Julio Iglesias sang the song.

Her repertoire includes music by Aram Khachaturian, Michel Legrand, Boris Pasternak and Yevgeny Yevtushenko. She also sang as a partner of Julio Iglesias.

At the height of her career shone through the efforts of Michel Lancelot and Roger Benamou French television in their concerts abroad. In France, they gave concerts in renowned music theaters like the Olympia in Paris. She also sang at Carnegie Hall in New York, at the Los Angeles Music Center, Place des Arts Theater in Montreal and in the Luzhniki Sports Complex in Moscow.

After the earthquake of Spitak 1988 Charles Aznavour invited her, with him and others the song "Pour Toi, Arménie " to sing, which remained in first place of the French Top 50 for ten weeks. In 1990 she made ​​a tour through Armenia. Popular in the Armenian Diaspora For several decades, it was now also popular in Armenia.
