Royal Brackla distillery

Royal Brackla / Brackla is a whiskey distillery in Cawdor, Inverness- shire, Scotland, UK.

History

The distillery was founded in 1812 by William Fraser. Since 1835, they must, as the first distillery to her by King William IV granted Royal in their name, which otherwise only may lead Royal Lochnagar and Glenury Royal. 1852 took over Robert Fraser the distillery. Around 1860 rose Andrew Usher & Co, which is rumored that they should have invented the aperture of whiskey with the business one. 1898 Brackla Distillery Co Ltd was established which was taken over in 1926 by John Bisset & Co. 1943, these were, and thus the distillery, of Distillers Company Limited ( DCL) which swallowed entrusted the management of the usual Scottish Malt Distillers to her daughter ( SMD). During World War II the distillery of the Royal Air Force served as a base. From 1965 to 1966, the distillery was refurbished and decommissioned their own malting floors. The distillery was expanded in 1970 from two to four stills, closed in 1985 and reopened in 1991. 1998 had United Distillers (UD) (now Diageo ), the distillery to sell Bacardi to meet the requirements of the Cartel.

Production

The water belonging to the Highlands distillery comes from the Cowdor Burn. It has a mash tun ( mash do ) ( 11.5 t) and six fermentation tanks (wash backs) ( together 360,000 l). Is distilled in two wash stills ( together 44,000 l ) and two spirit stills are heated by steam ( together 42,000 l).
