By 2007, three Kazakh teams played in the Eastern group, but they were not eligible to participate in the playoffs. Only with the inclusion of HK Sokol Kiev from Ukraine for season 2007/ 08 may non-Russian teams to the playoffs participate and thus had the opportunity to advance to the Super League. Since 2008, only two Kazakh teams took part in the game mode, since 2009, only Kaszink - Torpedo Ust- Kamenogorsk.
