Saas-Grund

Saas -Grund ( until 31 December 2006 officially Saas Grund ) is a municipality in the district of Visp in the canton of Valais.

Geography

It is located in the heart of the valley at 1560 meters above sea level and is the central place of the Saas Valley with the neighboring villages of Saas- Fee, Saas- Almagell and Saas -Balen.

Policy

The executive branch consists of a council of five members. Mayor Bruno supporter groups (as of 2013).

Tourism

Saas-Grund has a ski and hiking area. Two gondolas and several ski lifts reach to 3142m height, making it the fifth-highest ski area in Switzerland ( Zermatt, Saas -Fee, Verbier and St. Moritz ).

At the middle station cross bottom ( 2,400 m above sea level. M. ) is a small lake and a children's area ( large playground ). From the mountain station Hohsaas ( 3'142 m above sea level. M. ) you can see the whole Mischabelkette to the Monte Rosa massif.

Halfway between Saas -Grund and cross bottom is the Triftalp.

Traffic

The village of Saas -Grund can be reached by post bus from Brig and Visp ago. Otherwise, you can reach the village by car. From Saas-Grund out in a few minutes you can reach the neighboring villages of Saas -Almagell, Saas -Fee and Saas -Balen.
