Sachiko M.

Sachiko M. ( b. 1973 as Sachiko Matsubara ) is a Japanese musician and sound artist.

Life and work

Sachiko M., who initially worked in a theater in 1994 was discovered by Yoshihide Otomo, who campaigned as a member of the band Ground Zero. There she worked primarily with the sampling technique; she was involved in every album the band until its dissolution in 1998. She then worked in groups filament and ISO Yoshihide Otomo continues with, but since 1999 also released solo albums in which they clearly focused on electronic music. Later, she worked in a duo with Ami Yoshida as Cosmos; Michiyo Yagi with it belonged to the avant - pop band Hoahio. She also worked increasingly with European improvisers like Keith Rowe, Evan Parker, Steve Beresford, Günter Müller, but also with David Sylvian, Jon Rose and Jim O'Rourke. Since 2004 she also presented sound installations; Since 2010 she has been working as a photographer.

In 2003, she was together with Ami Yoshida and Utah Kawasaki awarded the Golden Nica at the Prix Ars Electronica in the category of digital music.
