Sachsenkam

Sachsenkam is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Bad Tölz- Wolfratshausen and a member of the administrative community Reichersbeuern. It is a popular tourist destination.

History

Sachsenkam was founded probably in the context of resettlement activities of Charlemagne in the 8th or 9th century.The can name similar to settlers from Saxony or a local founder named Sahso close. A document from 1035 shows an early membership in the Tegernsee monastery, later the site belongs to the possession of Count Adalbero of Ebersberg. The coat of arms of Ingram, which the village fell to it, is since 1959 coat of arms. Towards the end of the 15th century acquired the Tolz nurse Kaspar Winzerer Hofmark Sachsenkam; the site will then switch hands several times. In repealing Hofmark 1848, the village was the property of the von Sigriz. Anne of Pinzenau got the place in 1589 for dowry and laid 1606 the foundation stone of a Loreto chapel, which was extended when she could no longer accommodate the growing flow of pilgrims. In 1735 work on the church and convent were completed in its current form. The monastery, affiliated to the Bavarian Franciscan province since 1651, since 1668 performs a famous pharmacy. In the same time the brewery, which continues today as a brewery cooperative originates. From 1837 to 1958 the monastery kept a girls' school until today it performs a boarding house.
