Sacred Steel is a German True Metal band.

History

The band's roots date back to the 1980s. All members were already involved before Sacred Steel in bands and projects. Wider attention were the band, however, only through the establishment of Sacred Steel gain and after support for bands like Blitzkrieg, they signed in April 1997 as the first German band to Metal Blade Records a record deal. The debut album Reborn in Steel was released in October of the same year.

Sacred Steel in 1998 played a gig at the Wacken Open Air, took her second album with Bill Metoyer on as producers and was in the pre-selection of a Grammy nomination for "Best Heavy Metal Performance '. 2004 Iron Blessings was recorded and presented on 30 October 2004 during a big release party in Ludwigsburg Karlskaserne. There the Live-CD/-DVD Live Blessings was recorded, which was not published until 2006. Again with the same team to Achim Köhler Iron Blessings has been implemented as an extension of Slaughter Prophecy. A week after the show they performed at the Keep It True festival.

After it had become rather quiet in 2005 by Sacred Steel, marked the DVD release Live Blessings the end of an era, as Jörg Michael Knittel and Oliver Grosshans, both guitarists of the then existing original members left the band to be their Death Metal to devote project My Darkest Hate. Jens Sonnenberg then moved from bass to guitar and Kai Schindelar joined the band as the new bass player, Jonas Khalil ( ex- Eternal Glory and former guitar roadie ) as a second guitarist with.

Other projects

The founding members and former guitarist Jörg Knittel and Oliver Großhans left Sacred Steel in 2005 in order to concentrate on their Death Metal band My Darkest Hate. Knittel also plays Dawn of Winter.

Jörg Knittel and Jens Sonnenberg operated together with Andreas Preisig of 1997-2004 the label Iron Glory Records. Preisig founded following the dissolution of Iron Glory a new label, Battlecry Records.

Jens Sonnenberg played among others at Stikki Fykk and Baphomet. Several years he was publisher and editor of a fanzine. He is the uncle of the indie and pop musician Björn Sonnenberg, who plays guitar in Karpatenhund.

Gerrit P. Mutz sings still in Dawn of Winter and Chapel of Gore with Jonas on guitar.

Drummer Matthias Straub played in the German power metal band Mystic Prophecy. Less well known is that he has also recorded the drums on the first Stikki Fykk album " Fazt Carz An ' Rock'n Roll Starz ".

Guitarist Jonas Khalil also already played at Stikki Fykk, together with Gerrit at Chapel of Gore and plays Disbelief. He was also the guitarist from 1999-2000 Speed ​​Metal band Eternal Glory.

Kai Shin delaer is also a member of Lanfear and played bass on the album Stikki Fykk Sleazy We Meow!.
