San Andrés Municipality, Beni

The municipality of San Andrés is a district of Beni Department in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

The municipality of San Andrés is one of two Municipalities of the province Marbán and lies in the eastern part of the province. It is bordered to the west by the municipality of Loreto, on the south by the department of Cochabamba, on the east by the department of Santa Cruz, and to the north by the province of Cercado.

The largest town in the municipality of San Pablo Puente is on the Río San Pablo with 1,709 inhabitants ( 2001). The second largest town and administrative center of the municipality is San Andrés with 307 inhabitants ( 2001) in the north-west corner of the municipality.

Geography

The municipality of San Andrés is located in the Bolivian lowlands in the Moxos level, with more than 100,000 km ², one of the largest wetlands in the world. The dominant vegetation type in the region of San Andrés is the tropical savannah.

The annual rainfall for the region is 1,900 mm (see climate chart Trinidad ), with a marked dry season in the months of June to August and monthly precipitation highs of more than 250 mm from December to February.
