San Raimundo

San Raimundo (also San Raymundo and San Raimundo (de) Las Casillas ) is a 9,000 inhabitants small town in Guatemala and the administrative seat of the homonymous municipios in the department of Guatemala. The town is located 34 km north of Guatemala City at 1,570 m altitude.

The 114 km ² large municipality extends in the northern highlands of the department of Guatemala to the Río Motagua, which forms the border with neighboring Baja Verapaz. It has around 27,000 inhabitants, in which it mainly concerns Cakchiquel. A majority of the people live in rural settlements and villages, including La Cienaga, Concepción el Ciprés Llano de la Virgen, Pocomá, El Ciprés, El Carrizal, Estancia Vieja, Vuelta Grande, Estancia de la Virgen and El Zarzal.

Adjacent Municipalities are Chuarrancho in the northeast, Chinautla the southeast, Mixco and San Pedro Sacatepéquez in the south and San Juan Sacatepéquez the southwest and west. In the north of San Raimundo borders the municipality of Granados ( Baja Verapaz ).
