Santa Catarina Pinula is a small town in Guatemala and the administrative seat of the homonymous municipios in the department of Guatemala. The city lies on the southern edge of the urban area of Guatemala City at 1,550 m altitude.

The 48 km ² large municipality extends in the mountains south and southeast of Guatemala City. Crossing it is from the highway CA 1 ( Interamericana ), which leads to El Salvador. Along this highway ( Carretera a El Salvador) are located immediately outside the city limits several luxurious, heavily guarded housing estates with good views of the capital. The municipality has a total of about 80,000 inhabitants, of whom lived a large part in suburban settlements. Among the settlements and villages include Cuchilla del Carmen, El Carmen, Salvadora I / II, El Pueblito, Nueva Concepción, Puerta Parada, Piedra Parada Cristo Rey, Piedra Parada El Rosario, San José El Manzano, Laguna Bermeja, El Pajón, Manzano La Libertad, Don Justo and Canchón.

Santa Catarina Pinula was founded in pre-colonial times as Pankaj or Pinola.
