Sandra Schumacher

Sandra Schumacher ( born December 25, 1966 in Cologne) is a former German cyclist.

Life

At twelve, Sandra Schumacher drove her first bike race. Four times she was German champion in the road race, twice at the Junior Women (1982 /83), twice in the women's (1984 /85).

Five years later, at 17, Sandra Schumacher won the first Olympic road race for women at the Games in 1984 in Los Angeles, the bronze medal behind the U.S. women Connie Carpenter - Phinney and Rebecca Twigg.

The following year, 1985, Schumacher third at the UCI Road World Championships in the Italian Giavera del Montello, although she had only eight weeks earlier broken his arm. In the following years it was sporty quiet around them; in 1995, however, she succeeded again a third place in the overall standings of Thuringia Tour of the women.
