Sanmenxia
Sanmenxia (三门峡 市) is a prefecture -level city in central China's Henan Province.
The administrative area of Sanmenxia has an area of 10,475 km ² and approximately 2.23 million people ( according to census 2010). In Sanmenxia the Sanmenxia Dam, the first dam on the Yellow River is located. Sanmenxia has the peculiarity that one fifth of the population are Christians.
Administrative Divisions
At county level, Sanmenxia is composed of a township, three counties and two independent cities together. These are:
- City District Hubin (湖滨 区), 164 km ², 280,000 inhabitants, center, seat of the city government;
- Circle Mianchi (渑池县), 1421 km ², 330,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Chengguan (城关 镇);
- Circle Shan (陕县), 1763 km ², 340,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Daying (大 营镇);
- Circle Lushi (卢氏 县), 4004 km ², 370,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Chengguan (城关 镇);
- Yima city (义马 市), 112 km ², 160,000 inhabitants;
- Lingbao City (灵宝市), 3011 km ², 720,000 inhabitants.
