São Paulo Art Biennial

The São Paulo Biennial in São Paulo, Brazil, officially Portuguese Bienal Internacional de Arte de São Paulo, in the plural also Bienais de São Paulo, in short: Bienal de São Paulo, English and São Paulo Art Biennial is an organized since 1951 international art exhibition and next to the Venice Biennale, the second largest art biennale in the world.

History

It was founded by the Italian- Brazilian industrialist Ciccillo Matarazzo. Since 1957 it takes place Matarazzo Pavilion ( Pavilhão Ciccillo Matarazzo ) in the Parque do Ibirapuera in Ciccillo. The large Biennial Pavilion was designed by a team of architects led by Oscar Niemeyer and Hélio Uchôa and offers an exhibition area of ​​30,000 m².

1st Biennial 1951

29th Biennial 2010

Architecture Biennale

Since 1973, in addition to the Art Biennale in the Biennial Pavilion, the International Architecture Biennale of São Paulo (Portuguese Bienal Internacional de Arquitetura e Design, in short: BIA); English and Sao Paulo International Biennial of Architecture, organized.
