Šarišské Jastrabie

Šarišské Jastrabie (Slovak 1927-1948 " Jastrabie " - to 1927 " Jastreb "; Hungarian Felsőkánya - to 1907 Jesztreb ) is a municipality in the north-eastern Slovakia with 1292 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), which for Okres Stara Ľubovňa, a part the Prešov Region belongs, and is counted to the traditional landscape Saris.

Geography

The municipality is located in the valley of the brook Vesné on the western edge of the mountains Čergov and belongs to the catchment area of ​​Poprad. The " mountain" is the Minčol ( 1157 m nm), nearly due east of the village and the Polish border is a few miles north. The center is located at an altitude of 590 m nm and is 24 km from Stara Ľubovňa and 45 km from Prešov away.

Neighboring municipalities are circ in the north, and Lukov Livovská Huta in the east, Kyjov in the south, Pusté Pole and Krivany in the southwest and Ľubotín in the west and northwest.

History

Šarišské Jastrabie was first mentioned in 1435 as Jeztreb writing and belonged to the manor of Castle Kamenica. The place name is derived from the Slovak word Jastrab ( German hawk ). In the 16th century, the village became the property of the Desewffy family, followed by Szirmay in the 19th century.

1787 were counted 81 houses and 548 inhabitants in 1828 and 112 houses and 828 inhabitants. The village was and is dominated by agriculture to other revenue sources included forestry and animal husbandry.

Until 1918, belonged to the lying in the county Sáros place the Kingdom of Hungary and came after Czechoslovakia or Slovakia today.

Population

According to the 2011 census lived in Šarišské Jastrabie 1,284 inhabitants, of whom 663 Slovaks, 359 Roma, 149 Ruthenians and two Czechs. 111 inhabitants did not know. 1,122 residents known to the Greek Catholic Church, 49 inhabitants to the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church 12 inhabitants. Five residents were non-denominational and 96 inhabitants, the denomination is not determined.
