Scaled Composites Catbird

The Rutan Catbird (also Scaled Composites Model 81 Catbird ) is a plane trip from the American manufacturer Scaled Composites. It was designed by Burt Rutan.

The Catbird is a five -seater touring aircraft which is powered by a piston engine. It has a low wing design, a T-tail and a retractable tricycle landing gear. A special feature is the machine with an additional front wing, a canard equipped. It is completely made ​​of composite materials and was originally developed for Beechcraft. It is powered by a Lycoming TIO -360 A1C6D with 210 hp power, which is supplied by the principle of the nozzle radiator with cool air.

Only one prototype was made, which could decide the 1988 CAFE 400 - criterion with the highest score achieved to date for themselves. The machine holds two class world records that were flown on a trail between Lake Hughes and Boise:
