Scatman Crothers

Scatman Crothers, Benjamin Sherman Crothers actually, (* May 23, 1910 in Terre Haute, Indiana, † November 22, 1986 in Van Nuys, California ) was an American singer, composer and actor.

Life

Crothers started his career after high school in the 1920s as a singer and comedian in jazz and nightclubs. In a film he was seen for the first time in the 1950s. Although he in over 60 movies and television films participated (including in Beyond the Ruwenzori (1961 ) on the side of Roger Moore), he remained active primarily as a singer and composer. Most remained his appearance as a hotel chef in Stanley Kubrick's horror film The Shining in memory. Five years earlier, he had been as a night watchman at the side of Jack Nicholson in the film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest with. In 1976, he played the guard Ralston in the comedy Trans America Express. He can also be heard as a music-loving cat " Swingy " in the Walt Disney animated feature film The Aristocats (1970).
