Geography

Location

Schulenberg is located in the Upper Harz Harz nature park. Its nucleus is located approximately 8 km ( straight line ) south of the central city of Goslar, west above the Okertalsperre to about 450-505 m above sea level. NN. The highest point of the area is the Schalke (approx. 762 m). In the north west, the landscape passes over ( 645.4 m) over the Little Wiesberg ( 512.5 m) to the Great Meadow Mountain. South-west of Schulenberg opens the giant stream in the fed by the Schalke arm of the reservoir.

Neighboring communities

Since Schulenberg is enclosed on all sides by unincorporated territory resin, it has no immediately adjacent neighboring communities. However, is located in the west of the county seat of Samtgemeinde Upper Harz, Clausthal -Zellerfeld. South of the Okertalsperre is the mountain town of Altenau, and the town of Goslar is with their district Oker at the northern exit of the Oker valley.

History

The former Schulenberg was a former mining and smelting settlement from the 16th century. The place was divided into the districts of upper, middle and lower Schulenberg. A little above the town, the mines of the school Berger coalfield, were promoted was mainly silver, copper and lead. With the object of the pits, the last and most productive the pit Juliane Sophia was in 1904, the main economic activity of Schulenberg was in the timber.   • SPD: 5 seats

Two of the seven seats remain unfilled. The SPD received 100 % of the valid votes, as only they contested the municipal elections. However, their list included only five candidates.

In Schulenberg is the Evangelical Lutheran St. Peter 's Chapel, was built in 1956 and belongs to the parish school chapel hill in the parish of Harzer Land.
