Åžeref EroÄŸlu

Şeref Eroğlu ( born November 25, 1975 in Kahramanmaras ) is a former Turkish wrestler. He won a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics and once was world and European champions six times in the Greco-Roman style in three different weight classes.

Career

Şeref Eroğlu began as a teenager in Sivas with the rings. He concentrated on the Greco- Roman style. He later moved to Konya Seker Spor Sports Club or the Sport Club Istanbul Büyükksehir Beleidiyesi. He was trained in his long career primarily of Erdogan Koca Mustafa Boylu and Sedat Ücüncü. After his playing days he has worked as a sports official in the Turkish Wrestling Federation.

The international Ringer career he began in 1990 with a victory at the World Youth Championship ( Cadets ) in Szombathely, where he won in the weight category up to 40 kg. A year later he was at the Junior World Championship ( Cadets ) in Alma / Canada in the weight class up to 47 kg behind Poland's Piotr Jablonski second winner and finished in the same year at the Junior World Championship ( Juniors) in Barcelona in the weight class up to 46 kg for third place. In 1992 he was then in Cali / Colombia in the junior age group " Juniors " in the weight class up to 54 kg in front of the Cubans Rudy Lara Valle world champion again. In 1993, he won a bronze medal at the World Youth Championship in the age group " espoir " in Szekesfehervar bantamweight. In 1994 he was in Istanbul European Junior Champion ( espoir ) bantamweight against poor Mkrtchyan II, Armenia and Maxim Starodubzew, Russia. Even in his last start at junior level he won. It was founded in 1995 in Tehran bantamweight Junior World Champion ( espoir ) before Matyas Megyes from Hungary. In the junior level Şeref Eroğlu won a total of seven medals at international championships.

As early as 1994 he was already at an international championship at senior level at the start. He was born in Athens in the bantamweight champions before Aristides Arutik Rubenjan, Greece and Marian Sandu, Romania it. At the World Championships this year in Tampere he finished 5th. It was also used in the 1995 World Championships in Prague, but disappointed there and came bantamweight only to 14th place. In 1998, he was almost as successful. He won first in Minsk with wins over Leonhard Ionel Frincu, Romania, Peter Ronai, Hungary, Oleg Litvinenko, Ukraine and Nikolai Monow his third European title and then he missed the World Championships in Gaevle / Sweden by a scant point defeat in the final against Mchitar Manukyan, Kazakhstan, only just his second world title. Prior to this final defeat he had Ahad Pazaj, Iran, Sewket Karapinar, Germany, Michael Beilin and Peter Ronai defeated. In 1999 won Şeref Eroğlu in international championships two medals, but this he succeeded no title. At the European Championships this year in Sofia he was defeated in the semifinals against Wlodzimierz Zawadzki, but managed to get a bronze medal by defeating Gikos Christos, Greece yet. In the 1999 World Cup in Athens, he defeated Yasutoshi Motoki, Japan, Peter Georg Philippitsch, Austria, Riccardo Magni, Italy, Nikolei Monow, Eduard Aplevich, Belarus and Michael Beilin, but lost the final turn against Mkchitar Manukjan and thus became vice - world champion.

In 2000, Şeref Eroğlu very focused on the Olympic Games in Sydney. He lost there but just his first fight against Warteres Samurgaschew from Russia and could, according to the then peculiar regulations, with a win in his next fight on Wlodziierz Zawadzki (Olympic Champion 1996) just more secure 10th place. In 2001 he was in Istanbul Temur Tehumow, Russia, Wlodziierz Zawadzki and Nikolai Gergow, Bulgaria, European champion again. At the World Championships this year in Patras / Greece, he defeated again Wlodzimierz Zawadzki, but then succumbed surprisingly the Hungarian Levente Füredy, resigned as a result and was only on the 16th Place.

In 2002 he then moved to the lightweight. He was successful on the first attempt in this weight class and won in Seinäjoki / Finland like the fourth European title. On the way to this success, he defeated Waghinak Galstjan, Armenia, Adrian Cosmin Ozsda, Romania, Maxim Semenov, Russia, Michael Beilin and Manuchar Kwirkwelia from Georgia. Disappointing for him but again the World Cup in Moscow, because after two won fights he lost to Chodaee Mahdi, Iran, and therefore only came on the 11th Place.

2003 Şeref Eroğlu in Belgrade with wins over Farid Mansurov, Azerbaijan, Vyacheslav Maslobojew, Latvia, Manuchar Kwirkwelia, Eduard Aplewich and poor Vardanyan, Ukraine again European Champion. But with the 2003 World Cup in Creteil he missed a medal again because he lost after three won fights against Manuchar Kwirkwelia. He got away with it on the 5th Place.

In 2004, he again focused entirely on the Olympic Games, which were held in Athens. Get him there first wins over Manuchar Kwirkwelia, Fernando Martinez Iwquierdo, Spain and Mkchitar Manukjan. But the dream of gold medal muffed Farid Mansurov him, who defeated him in the finals on points and thus referred to the 2nd place.

In the following years, he launched until 2008, he was not as successful in the international championships then much as in previous years. He succeeded only in 2006 at the European Championships in Moscow with a 3rd place medal win. Relatively well he cut with a 5th place even at the 2006 World Cup in Guangzhou, where he, Hungary defeated three strong wrestler with Ali Esmaeil Mohammadi, Iran, Artan Harutyunyan, Armenia and Tamas Lörincz, but against Kanatbek Begalijew, Russia and Justin Harry Lester, United States, lost. In 2008, he also qualified again for participating in the Olympics, his fourth. However, in Beijing he lost his first fight against Nikolai equal Gergow, thus retired and finished only 17th place.

After these games Şeref Eroğlu ended his time. He has won in his career at international championships in total, junior and senior level, eleven titles and 20 medals.
