Serendipity ( Original title: Serendipity ) is an American romantic comedy from 2001, based on the novel by Marc Klein. In the U.S., the film celebrated on October 5, 2001 premiere, while he started off in Germany and Switzerland on 29 November 2001 in theaters.
Action
Sara Thomas and Jonathan exchangers meet Christmas shopping in New York, where both have the same pair of gloves want to buy in the department store Bloomingdale's. Jon gives Sara the gloves and is invited by her gratitude on an ice coffee. Although both live in committed relationships, they spend the afternoon together and fall in love here. When they separate again in the evening, Jon Sara wants to see and offers her to exchange phone numbers and addresses.
But Sara refuses, because she wants to decide the fate of a reunion: You can Jon writing his phone number on a five dollar bill and buys with this bill a role peppermint. Sara again writes her number in a first edition of the book Love in the Time of Cholera and sold the book the next day in a bookshop. Ten years later, are both Jon Sara shortly before their weddings. Jon wants to marry the beautiful and rich Halley, and Sarah got engaged recently with the musician Lars. When Jon receives from his future wife, the edition of the book with Sara's phone number as a wedding gift, he blows off the wedding. Sara goes to just before her wedding to New York to seek Jon, finds the bill with Jon's number and is looking also in the city after him. They eventually found him on the skating track where they were skating at their first meeting in the winter.
In the last scene, Jon and Sara are seen, as they abut with a glass of sparkling wine in the store where they met years ago for the first time on their wedding day.

The film has been criticized mainly because of its action, which is partly based on far-fetched coincidences:

Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian called the film a typical romantic comedy, but suffer in this case under the plot.
