Sergio Hernández (racing driver)

Sergio Hernández Reckowski (December 6, 1983 in Javea ) is a Spanish racing driver.

Career

1998 Hernandez began his career in karting and moved in 2001 into formula racing. He started in the Iberian Formula BMW, finishing in eighth place in the overall standings. In 2002, the Spaniards for Azteca Motorsport took part in starting the Spanish Formula 3 and finished ninth overall. The following year he stayed with Azteca Motorsport in the Spanish Formula 3 and improved to seventh place overall. He also drove a number of races in the World Series Light and the B- Fund of the British Formula 3, in which he finished in eighth place in the overall standings. 2004 moved Hernández Campos Grand Prix and started again in the Spanish Formula 3 at the third attempt he secured sixth place in the overall standings. In addition, he drove half a season in the World Series by Nissan and has been for Saulnier Racing starting 15th in the overall standings.

2005 Hernández moved to the newly founded GP2 Series. He drove, as in Formula 3, Campos Grand Prix and reached the 20th place with three points in the standings. 2006 remained Hernández in the GP2 Series and moved to Durango. At the end of the season, he finished 23rd in the overall standings. He took as the year before three points. In 2007, Hernández for Trident Racing starting only on the last weekend of the season GP2 series part.

This year, Hernandez was active for Proteam Motorsport in the WTCC and finished 20th in the overall standings. He also drove half a season in the GT2 class of the Le Mans Series. 2008 Hernández remained in the WTCC at Proteam Motorsport. At the end of the season Hernández finished with nine points the sixteenth place in the overall standings. He also won the so-called Independents' Trophy. In 2009 he started for BMW Team Italy-Spain, finishing in 11th place overall. He was able, after his team -mate Alessandro Zanardi won the first race, the second race in Brno decide for themselves. Since the BMW Team Italy-Spain no longer competes in the 2010 season, Hernandez will return to Proteam Motorsport. His team-mate Stefano is d'Aste.
